Lanzhou City has announced that it will invest 60 million yuan this year to enhance its urban sanitation system, aiming to increase the mechanized cleaning and collection rate to 85%. This initiative is expected to ensure that major and secondary roads in the city are water-sprayed daily and cleaned weekly. The move marks a significant step forward in modernizing Lanzhou’s waste management infrastructure.
Currently, the city's sanitation operations rely heavily on manual labor, with limited use of machinery for cleaning and waste collection. To address long-standing issues such as inadequate investment in sanitation facilities, outdated garbage disposal methods, and the challenge of public toilet accessibility, the local government has decided to allocate substantial resources toward acquiring advanced equipment. This includes purchasing sprinklers, road washing vehicles, snow removal machines, garbage collection trucks, and sidewalk sweepers. These efforts aim to bring Lanzhou's sanitation infrastructure up to par with similar cities across the country.
In addition to improving mechanical efficiency, the city is also focusing on addressing the issue of "difficulty in finding toilets." As part of this effort, Lanzhou plans to accelerate the construction and renovation of public restrooms. By the end of this year, 50 new or renovated public toilets will be completed in the downtown area, providing better access for both residents and visitors.
This comprehensive approach reflects the city's commitment to improving urban living conditions and enhancing the quality of life for its citizens. With these upgrades, Lanzhou is taking meaningful steps toward a cleaner, more efficient, and more livable environment.
