The Great Wall K1 (Huff CUV) stands out for its advanced GW2.4S multi-point EFI engine, developed in collaboration with a renowned foreign engine manufacturer. This 2.4-liter power unit delivers over 95 kW of power and more than 200 N·m of torque, offering strong performance on and off the road. The K1 is available in both two-wheel and four-wheel drive configurations, with front and rear disc brakes ensuring reliable stopping power. Great Wall Motor has been expanding its product lineup, with future models including K2 and K3. To support this growth, the company started constructing a modern R&D and production base in May 2003. By December 2003, funds from its successful Hong Kong listing were primarily allocated to the development of the K series and the construction of the new facility. The first phase of the project, which invested 800 million yuan, is a key initiative in Baoding, Hebei Province. It includes workshops, technical centers, and labs for stamping, welding, painting, assembly, and trial production. The main structure of the first phase has been completed, and the facility is now in the equipment installation and commissioning stage, with plans to start production in August. The new plant will have a capacity of 100,000 vehicles annually. Great Wall aims to build a passenger car plant with an annual output of 250,000 units by the end of next year, and by 2006, total production capacity will exceed 400,000 units. In other news, the Peugeot 206 will be produced at Dongfeng Peugeot next year, available in two-door, four-door, and hatchback variants. It comes with engine options ranging from 1.1L to 2.0L. Meanwhile, the Mercedes-Benz E240 will be manufactured at Beijing Benz, with the 2.6L version expected to launch in a few months. Its international price ranges from $48,170 to $61,970. BYD's F6 is the company’s first independently developed sedan, featuring a 4944mm length, 2.4L engine, ABS, EBD, eight airbags, and high-tech features like DVD, GPS, and a reversing camera. The vehicle uses a three-link double wishbone front suspension and a four-link coil spring rear setup. The Cadillac SRX will be assembled in China this year, equipped with either a 4.6L Polaris V8 or a 3.6L V6 engine. The 4.6L engine produces 232 kW at 6,400 rpm and 4,200 N·m of torque at 4,400 rpm. The SRX also features a large sunroof that opens up a 0.46 m² space above the front and second-row seats. Hyundai’s Tucson (Tusheng) is a top-selling small SUV, competing with the CR-V, RAV4, and Outlander. Priced between $17,000 and $22,000, it offers a 2.0L or 2.7L engine option, along with standard features like four-wheel disc brakes and automatic transmission. Hyundai expects to sell 18,000 units this year, with annual sales targeting 40,000–50,000 units. Toyota’s Crown will debut at the Tianjin FAW Toyota plant later this year. It features a new platform, a 3.0L V6 gasoline engine with dual VVT-i, and a six-speed automatic transmission. It also includes a knee airbag for added safety. The Cadillac CTS will be produced at Shanghai General Motors this year, powered by a 3.2L V6 engine producing 164 kW and 298 N·m of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7 seconds. Shanghai Volkswagen will produce the Touran MPV, built on the PQ35 platform. It offers 5- and 7-seat configurations, with dimensions of 4.39 m long, 1.79 m wide, and 1.63 m high. It’s slightly longer than the Hainan Mazda Prima. Nissan’s Teana, launched in Japan last February, will arrive in China this fall. It has a 4770mm length and a 2775mm wheelbase, providing more interior space than the Wind. It offers three engine options: 2.3L VQ23DE, 2.5L QR25, and 3.5L VQ35DE, with a CVT transmission available. The 2.3L engine delivers 127 kW and 225 N·m of torque.
