Nippon Wireless has broadened its lineup of flyback boost regulator ICs, introducing models capable of switching operations up to 1 MHz. The company has also started offering samples for six new models. These six ICs are based on the previously released NJU7600, with several enhancements. The NJU7601 adds PWM/PFM control functionality, the NJU7602 reduces standby power consumption to a standard 1 μA, and the NJU7606/8 include an input/output cutoff switch. The NJU7610, designed for portable devices and LCD panels, offers improved over-current protection, along with both constant current and constant voltage output capabilities.
According to Nippon Wireless, while other companies have introduced similar ICs, they claim that no other manufacturer has launched such a comprehensive range of products at once. Since all six models share the same core voltage regulation circuit, their response characteristics and stability when handling output changes are very consistent. A designer familiar with the NJU7600 can quickly adapt to the new product line, as the design and performance remain largely compatible.
The NJU7608 is functionally similar to the NJU7606 but uses a smaller FFP package, which makes it slightly more expensive. The NJU7601 employs PWM control under heavy load conditions, switching to PFM when the load decreases and the pulse duty factor drops below 25%. The NJU7610 enhances over-current protection by monitoring each switching cycle. If an overcurrent is detected, it automatically disables the output pulse. Once the overcurrent condition is resolved, the output resumes normally.
These improvements make the new series more versatile and efficient, especially in applications where power efficiency and reliability are critical. With these updates, Nippon Wireless continues to strengthen its position in the market for high-performance power management solutions.
