Nippon Wireless has broadened its lineup of flyback boost regulator ICs, introducing models capable of switching operations up to 1MHz. The company has also started offering samples for six new models. These six ICs are based on the previously released NJU7600, with various enhancements. The NJU7601 adds PWM/PFM control functionality, while the NJU7602 reduces standby power consumption to a standard 1μA. The NJU7606 and NJU7608 feature an input/output cutoff switch. The NJU7610, which improves over-current protection, offers both constant current and constant voltage output, making it ideal for portable devices and LCD panel power supplies.
According to Nippon Wireless, although other companies have introduced similar functions, they noted, "Although the same regulator circuit is used, very few manufacturers have launched such a comprehensive range all at once." Since these six models share the same voltage regulator circuit as their core, the response characteristics and stability across different output conditions are highly consistent. As one engineer put it, "If you've used the NJU7600 before, you can easily adapt to this new product."
The NJU7608 shares the same features as the NJU7606 but uses a smaller FFP package, resulting in a slightly higher price. The NJU7601 switches between PWM and PFM modes depending on the load: it uses PWM when the load increases and switches to PFM when the load decreases and the pulse duty factor drops to 25%. The NJU7610 enhances over-current protection by monitoring each switching cycle. If an overcurrent is detected, it immediately turns off the output pulse; if no overcurrent is present, it automatically resumes the pulse output. This makes it particularly suitable for applications where reliability and safety are critical.
