This past week provided a brief window of milder weather, prompting several local fire departments to seize the opportunity and conduct dive training sessions in icy aquatic environments. The MABAS Division 3 Dive Team took advantage of this break in winter conditions to practice their skills at the Underwriters Labs campus in Northbrook. Tim Olk, who was on-site documenting the exercises, captured some compelling images that he generously shared.
The first set of photos shows a primary diver preparing to enter the water, while a backup diver stands by holding a tethered safety line. Support staff were also present, assisting with the safety lines and ensuring everything ran smoothly.
