The Broadview Fire Department, located within MABAS Division 20, serves an area covering nearly two square miles from their single station. This station has quite the history, having once housed many American LaFrance vehicles. Even today, two classic American LaFrance units remain in service here. One is a 1982 Century Series engine, while the other is a unique Grumman AerialCat tower ladder built on a specially designed low-profile American LaFrance chassis.
This update comes courtesy of Dennis McGuire, Jr., who provided photos showcasing not only the firefighting vehicles but also additional assets like two ambulances, another engine, the distinctive tower ladder, a pickup truck, and even an X-military grade AM General Humvee that’s been repurposed for emergency response duties.
Attached below you'll find several images taken by Dennis McGuire, Jr. The first captures a broad view of the department's facilities, highlighting their modern equipment lineup against the backdrop of their firehouse at 2400 S. 25th Avenue. Another shot gives us a closer look at some of the apparatus parked outside, giving a sense of how well-maintained these vehicles are after years of service.
Looking through these pictures really brings home just how dedicated this small-town fire department is to maintaining top-notch readiness despite its modest size. It’s clear they take pride in preserving both tradition and innovation when it comes to protecting their community. If you’ve ever wondered what goes into running a place like Broadview FD—or if you simply enjoy seeing beautifully maintained vintage fire trucks—you won’t want to miss checking out these shots!
