Here are some photographs that complement Scott Peterson’s post from January 12th. The first three images were captured during the firefighting efforts. The fourth photo was taken during the recovery phase, and the fifth shows the helmets of the firefighters who lost their lives. The photographers remain unidentified, and all the images are part of my personal collection.

These photos offer a powerful glimpse into a tragic event that took place over seven decades ago. They remind us of the bravery and sacrifice of those who put their lives on the line to protect others. While the names of the firefighters may have faded from public memory, their courage remains an important part of Chicago's history.
