**From Drew Gresik:**
Hey everyone,
Just a quick note here. I’m sure we’re all going to see tons of posts about this fire, so I’ll keep it brief. Attached are just a few of the over 500 photos I captured at this incident in Stone Park. It was a grocery store with attached occupied apartments, and the fire was pretty intense—multiple master streams and handlines were deployed. One of the biggest challenges was dealing with several bad hydrants, which forced command to call in additional engines from various neighboring departments.
Thanks again to everyone involved—it’s always great to see such strong teamwork in action.
Take care,
Drew

**Chicago Tribune Article:**
The fire broke out around noon today in the potato chip aisle of a grocery store in Stone Park. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. The blaze quickly escalated to a five-alarm fire and consumed much of the building, which consists of a grocery store on the ground floor and four apartments on the second story.
According to local authorities, the fire was particularly intense, causing significant damage to the roof and leading to a partial collapse. Thick, black smoke billowed from the building for quite some time, and about 15-20 fire departments were on the scene to assist.
Store manager Jose Rivera was in his office when he noticed the smoke alarm going off. Initially thinking it might be cooking smoke, he investigated only to discover the potato chip aisle ablaze. Rivera attempted to extinguish the flames with a fire extinguisher but soon realized the situation was beyond his control. He then evacuated the eight customers present in the store.
Despite his efforts, the fire worsened, and Rivera had to retreat for safety. Fire officials decided to let the fire burn freely for now, as it was too dangerous to enter the building until the situation stabilized.
The building’s second-floor occupants on the southern side managed to escape unharmed, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Stay safe out there, folks. This is a good reminder of how quickly situations can escalate, especially in commercial spaces.
