It happened this morning around 10:30 AM at 21 South Hi Lusi Avenue. The first unit on the scene reported heavy smoke conditions and the incident was upgraded to a Code 4 (no Engine 13 involvement). There was significant fire on the second floor of the 1.5-story Cape Cod-style home. As soon as I arrived, crews had already begun evacuating the building due to concerns about a potential floor collapse on the second floor. For a short while, firefighters took a defensive approach to control the blaze before transitioning back inside. Unfortunately, we couldn't access the rear of the property because most of the neighboring yards were surrounded by large fences. However, I noticed a substantial bump-out addition on the back of the second floor. Units responding to the initial call for assistance included AHTS Tower 1, DESP Engine along with Battalion Chief, EGRT Engine 11, ROLM Engine, and GLVW Engine Company/Quint.
