On October 28, at the Shanghai headquarters of the Continental Group, the reporter interviewed Wolfgang Breuer, Vice President of the Engine System Business Unit of the Continental Powertrain Division and Christopher Breitsameter, Business Development and Strategy Leader of the Powertrain Division.

Reporter: I understand that there will be a technical summit in Shanghai tomorrow. Why did you come to China and attract you to China?

Wolfgang Breuer: Last year, the Sensors and Actuators Business Unit of the Continental Powertrain Division held a technical summit in China. We all thought that this was a very good form. We decided to scale up the activities and put our powertrain division into operation. All of its business units cover this year's technical framework. When it comes to why you choose to hold such a conference in China, the reason is simple: China is the world’s largest auto market and the fastest growing auto market. The laws and regulations of the relevant industries in this market are also changing very quickly, so we hope to pass This technical conference will share with the customers and suppliers the latest technological breakthroughs of the Continental Powertrain Division to help our suppliers and customers cope with challenges in the Chinese market.

Reporter: Does the 48-volt hybrid technology launched by Continental Group have already been applied to models and is there any relevant promotion plan in China?

Wolfgang Breuer: Let me first introduce the market performance of Continental's 48V hybrid technology: We have currently selected several test vehicles for key testing and have achieved 13% of carbon reduction, and we are expected to achieve a carbon reduction ratio in practical applications. Up to 20%. We expect to install a 48V system in a European production vehicle in 2016 (as to which model is not yet available here), and this model is planned to carry 48V micro in each market release in 2016. Mixed technology, which also includes the Chinese market.

Reporter: Does this technology work with Chinese local suppliers? Is there a specific promotion plan in China?

Christopher Breitsameter: The application of our technology in China's local OEMs is also about to start. According to the current market response, China's OEMs are very interested in our 48-volt hybrid technology. The 48V environmental protection system is not only environmentally friendly but also very easy to use. We are also very confident about the promotion of this technology in the Chinese OEMs.

There is no specific timetable yet, but the general node is clearer: In 2016, the first production vehicle in Europe used 48-volt technology. Considering that China will achieve a higher standard of 5 liters in 2020, we believe that It is feasible for China to achieve mass production of 48 volt technology by 2020.

Reporter: The Chinese government’s technical requirements for energy saving and environmental protection are getting higher and higher, and regulations are getting stricter. I also noticed that Continental has direct injection technology. We understand that some auto parts suppliers have done in this area. Stronger, what are the characteristics of Continental's gasoline direct injection technology compared to them, or what are the competitive advantages compared to them?

Wolfgang Breuer: There are indeed several suppliers in the field of powertrain, and the technologies have their own advantages. The advantages of Continental's gasoline direct injection technology are several points: First, it has strong competitiveness in key components, such as: injection Because the nozzle directly determines the fuel consumption level, it also has a direct impact on the level of emissions, so the quality of the nozzle is very critical; the other is a high-pressure pump, our Continental Group currently supplies 150ba high-pressure oil pumps to the Chinese market, and will supply 200 to 250ba in the future. Even more high-pressure oil pumps have a direct impact on the level of particulate matter and overall environmental performance. Second, Continental is a system supplier in the field of powertrain. It can provide turnkey solutions for OEMs. This is one of our core competencies.

Reporter: Can your product prices meet the needs of the Chinese market?

Wolfgang Breuer: The products and technologies provided by Continental Group have been welcomed by domestic OEMs and OEMs in Europe and the United States. From the point of order quantity, our technology is fully recognized by our customers in terms of price and performance. .

Reporter: Just talked about direct injection of gasoline. At present, the Chinese market is very concerned about turbocharger technology. What are the special products of the Continental Group in this field? Is there a plan for cooperation in China?

Wolfgang Breuer: First introduce the development history of our turbocharged technology: Continental Group decided to enter the turbocharger market area eight years ago. At that time, we decided to focus on gasoline turbochargers because we observed the miniaturization of gasoline engines. Is becoming an important market trend, and as we have predicted, turbocharged, especially in the gasoline engine market, is growing very fast, with an annual growth rate of approximately 20%, and also opened up for new technology and product suppliers. door. We successfully cooperated with our first customer, Ford, to provide turbochargers for the Ford 1.0TEcoBoost engine. This miniaturized engine has also won the award of “Global Best Engine of the Year” for many times. Our second heavyweight The customer is BMW. BMW recently launched the world's first engine equipped with an aluminum scroll-type water-cooled turbocharger. This innovative turbocharger was developed by the Continental Group for BMW.

This technology has three unique characteristics: First, we fully ensure that the turbocharger and the compressor are more scientifically matched to the design of the turbocharger; secondly, our products have extremely high thermodynamic efficiency and can achieve high torque quickly. Helping to bring into play the engine's performance; Third, in terms of production, the Continental Group turbocharger has a unique design, has a very good productivity, and can achieve new heights in quality control. We have achieved more than two years of turbocharged The mass production of pressure devices can be said to be the benchmark of the industry in practical use.
