It is reported that Cargotec's MacGregor has received a contract to provide a comprehensive equipment package for seven special support vessels operating in the Middle East.
According to the contract, MacGregor will supply deck cranes and series deck machinery for each vessel. The seven vessels include two 58-meter-long anchor-treated towing supply vessels, one 45-meter-long work utility vessel, and four 45-meter-long maintenance utility vessels.
MacGregor's equipment is expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2017. Esko Karvonen, head of Mackay's Intelligent Marine Technology Division, said, “The availability of these orders is a good example of MacGregor's ability to deliver a one-stop solution that is a market-leading brand and will also be well received. Global after-sales service and support. Although we usually supply designated equipment for a ship, equipment packages often provide the best economic solution for shipowners."
The support vessels are expected to be delivered in the third quarter of 2017 and will be built by the Chinese shipyard. The shipowner is an unnamed Middle East ship logistics service provider. Upon delivery, the new vessel will serve a Middle Eastern oil company in the Arabian Gulf for a period of 5+2 years.
In July of this year, MacGregor also received a contract to design and supply key components for five 14,000 TEU container ships, including the assembly of hatch cover steel structures. The new vessels are currently being built at Kure Shipyard, a subsidiary of Japan Marine United (JMU).
