From Chi-Town Fire Photos:

I was on scene yesterday around 3:30 AM at 500 W. 26th Street. The fire was in a three-story brick building measuring approximately 100 by 150 feet. The first-arriving companies tried an interior attack, but had difficulty locating the fire's origin. Due to the intense heat and limited visibility, they eventually transitioned to an exterior defensive operation. At its peak, five handlines, multiple ground monitors, Squad 1, AT8, TL5, and TL10 were all deployed to control the blaze. I arrived about 45 minutes into the incident. At that time, Engines 8 and 29, along with Trucks 4 and 8, were still working the fire.

The fire was intense, and it took several hours to bring under control. Crews worked tirelessly, using water from multiple sources and coordinating efforts to prevent the fire from spreading further. It’s always a reminder of how quickly things can escalate and how important it is to have a strong, well-coordinated response. These photos capture some of the action, showing the effort and dedication of the firefighters on the scene.
