From Larry Shapiro:
The Deerfield-Bannockburn firefighters were dispatched for a house fire around noon on Friday (May 22, 2015), at 818 Forest Avenue. Before the units even reached the scene, the alarm was escalated by the RED Center due to a report from police officers indicating visible smoke. Upon arrival, they found flames engulfing the first floor of an older, two-story wooden structure, with smoke spreading throughout the house. Within approximately ten minutes, two fire lines were deployed, and the majority of the blaze was successfully suppressed.
Units on-site included Deerfield Engine 19 & 20, Ambulance 19, Truck 20, Battalion 20 along with the chief officers. Additionally, support came from Highland Park’s Truck and Battalion 33, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods’ Engine and Ambulance 52, Northbrook’s Battalion 11 and Engine 10, Morton Grove Squad 4, and Lake Forest Truck 421.
I arrived roughly 15 minutes after the initial dispatch. Here are some images I captured from the scene:

Excerpts from the Chicago Tribune:
A Deerfield family escaped unscathed when a house fire broke out on Friday. One family member detected smoke, promptly evacuated everyone, and called emergency services. The fire was confined to a single room thanks to the closed door, which played a crucial role in containing the damage. Deputy Chief Ray Larson of the Deerfield Bannockburn Fire Protection District noted, "There were people inside, including children. The individual who smelled smoke evacuated the household and called 911 without attempting to open the burning room. This decision significantly limited the fire's spread."
Upon their arrival, firefighters entered through the main door, located the source of the fire, and extinguished it using a hose. Although the flames were restricted to one room, smoke permeated the entire house.
