What a year it’s been! The past 365 days have been nothing short of exhilarating for the Forge team, and here at Autodesk University, we’re thrilled to share and celebrate some of the incredible progress we’ve made across various fronts—our talented people, our evolving platform, our vibrant DevCon events, our customers’ inspiring work, and our strategic investments in the construction industry. Let’s take a closer look. --- ### People We couldn’t be happier to announce that Sam Ramji has joined us to lead our cloud platform initiatives. With his extensive background as the VP of Product Management for Google Cloud Platform, the founder of Cloud Foundry, and a key figure in Microsoft’s open-source and platform strategies, Sam brings invaluable expertise to our team. His vision is already reshaping the future of Forge, and our community couldn’t be more excited to welcome him aboard. --- ### Platform Developments This year has brought exciting advancements to our platform. We recently launched a public beta for the Design Automation API for Inventor, something our community has been eagerly anticipating. Now, developers can write scripts and add-ins to automate tasks for AutoCAD and Inventor in the cloud. And we’re just getting started—Design Automation for Revit is currently in preview, with a public beta expected by the end of January. Additionally, we’re rolling out enhanced APIs for BIM 360, adding support for Issues, RFIs, and Checklists. --- ### Forge DevCon Progress In 2018, we hosted four Forge DevCon events in China, Japan, Germany, and now the U.S., each drawing larger crowds than the last. It’s incredible to see how the Forge community has grown. In Germany, attendance increased by approximately 50% year over year, and this week’s event in Las Vegas is our biggest yet, with more than 25% growth compared to last year. It’s a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation within our ecosystem. --- ### Spotlight Customer: JELD-WEN Forge has partnered with some truly remarkable customers who are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. JELD-WEN, a leading manufacturer of custom wood and vinyl windows and custom wood, fiberglass, and steel doors, worked with us to create an interactive, customizable online experience. This new functionality not only transformed how customers engage with their products but also delivered impressive results. ![JELD-WEN Customization](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/776c46f796cada6ee2ff4b276ac356a0.jpg) --- ### Forge Fund Continues to Invest in Construction In the past year, the Autodesk Forge Fund has made six strategic investments: Smartvid.io, Project Frog, ManufactOn, eSub, Rhumbix, and Assemble Systems, Inc. Our partnership with Assemble Systems has been particularly successful, leading to their acquisition by Autodesk in July. These investments reflect our commitment to driving innovation and growth in the construction industry. --- For those of you in Las Vegas this week, there’s even more to explore. Join us for tech-focused meetups, hands-on DevLab sessions, and an answer bar where you can ask questions directly. More than 10 software companies and system integrators will showcase their Forge-powered applications, and there are some interactive exhibits waiting to surprise and delight you. As we look ahead to 2019, there’s so much more to come.
