Recently, Wärtsilä, the leading provider of solutions and services for the shipbuilding industry, has received contracts to supply engines and complete propulsion systems for two new shipbuilding projects, specifically for Kuwaiti Oil Company’s 14 ships under construction. This highlights the company's popularity in the Middle East for customers in the marine sector.
It is reported that the Wärtsilä propulsion program will be used for nine 80-ton BP tugs and five 50-ton BP tugs. Among them, the 80-ton BP tug is the Wärtsilä 26 engine, and the 50-ton BP tug is the Wärtsilä 20 engine. The vessels are being built by the Dutch Damen shipyard, Wärtsilä expects to deliver equipment in 2014 and 2015, and the new vessel will be used for port operations at the Kuwait Oil Terminal.
