Bill Friedrich shared this fascinating history of a 1991 Ford/Sauber rescue unit that had a long and varied career across different departments.

This vehicle lived three different lives. It began its journey with the River Grove Fire Department. Later, it was sold to the Franklin Park Fire Department, where it served for several years. Eventually, it found its way to the O’Fallon Underwater Search and Recovery Team in St. Clair County, Illinois.

It's amazing to see how one vehicle can serve multiple communities over the years. From urban fire response to underwater recovery, this Ford/Sauber has seen it all. The photos captured by Bill Friedrich and John Fijal give a great glimpse into its storied past. If you're a fan of vintage fire apparatus or historical vehicles, this is a real treasure to behold.
