How to prevent mine fires

The cause of mine fires can be divided into internal fires and external fires according to their heat sources.

External fire refers to fire caused by external fire sources such as open flames, cable fires, arc sparks generated by electrical equipment, gas or coal dust explosions, and fire. Generally speaking, in medium and small coal mines with low electrification, most of the external fires are caused by the use of open flames or illegal blasting. In mines with high degree of mechanization and electrification, most of them are caused by poor management and maintenance of electromechanical equipment, improper operation and operation, equipment failure and other reasons. Moreover, as the degree of electrification of mines continues to increase, the proportion of external fires caused by electromechanical equipment also tends to increase. In the underground, smoking, heating, illegal shooting, electric welding and other reasons, caused by external fires, also occur from time to time.

Most of the external fires are likely to occur in wellsite parking lots, electromechanical chambers, transportation and mining roadways, and other places where machinery and electrical equipment are concentrated, and the wind flow is relatively smooth. Such fires generally occur more suddenly and develop at a faster rate. A small source of fire, a little negligence, the fire may spread to a large extent. If it is found to be untimely, the treatment method is improper, or the action measures are not decisive, it will bring serious damage to the mine and even a tragic personal injury or death.
