Action Mining Services, a mining engineering company based in Western Australia, believes that the Allison automatic transmission is the best configuration for its Hino mining truck powertrain used in Australian mining areas. The large engineering and service facility in Hazelmer, near Perth, is operated by Action, a company that designs service modules for vehicles and builds Hino's 5006x4 chassis-mounted waterwheel with a capacity of 26 tons and a power of 280 horsepower.

According to Barry Cook, business development manager at ActionMiningServices, the Hino truck equipped with Allison transmissions is ideally suited to operate in harsh Australian mining areas. He said, “The Action company has been purchasing Hino trucks for a long time. We think it is time to expand our horizons and install the best trucks based on operating conditions.”

BarryCook continued: "The results show that the Hino 500 series trucks equipped with Allison automatic transmissions are the most competent ones. It weighs more than two tons more than the nearest model of its kind. If it is a waterwheel, it is equivalent to more than 2000 liters. (528 gallons) of water, the vehicle can reach its destination without refilling the water."

The company purchased 140 new Hino vehicles equipped with Allison 3500R series automatic transmissions. Prior to the purchase of vehicles by mining companies, leasing groups or mining service contractors, the Action company selected water tank modules or mine service modules for these Hino trucks based on the specific circumstances of different customer mining areas.

Cook said: “The Allison automatic gearbox has many obvious advantages in mining applications and is ideal for the vehicles we sell. Especially for trucks equipped with water tank modules, the vehicle load often reaches the limit, The Allison automatic transmission can increase the torque through the unique hydraulic torque converter, providing better starting performance and climbing ability in steep mines."

Action Corporation designs and manufactures water tank modules and service modules at its Hazelmere plant, and uses the Allison 3500R Series fully automatic transmission as a standard for Hino trucks. Once the vehicle needs to be distributed to the mine, Action will deliver the vehicle to Allison's dealer HeavyAutomatics and refit the 3500R series gearbox equipped with a hydraulic retarder to improve driving performance on steep road surfaces in open pit mines. .

Cook added: "Users often specify the use of Allison hydraulic retarders to increase the safety of trucks going downhill into the mine, while reducing brake wear and extending vehicle service time. Automatic transmissions also prevent damage to the driveline. Because there is no clutch, the loss of the transmission is reduced, ensuring a long service life of the vehicle and other related parts."

In addition to Allison's hydraulic retarder, Action's Hino truck also features a power take-off (PTO) function that transmits the engine's driving power and drives the mechanical parts to work in different operating environments.
