On January 8th, at the National Science and Technology Awards Conference held in Beijing, the “Science and Technology Progress Award for Research and Application of High-Activity α-Acetolactate Decarboxylase†project in Nanning was selected as the second prize for the 2007 National Science and Technology Progress Award. This is the first time since the establishment of the National Science and Technology Progress Award that the scientific and technological achievements of Nanning have won this honor. This is a major breakthrough in Nanning's technological innovation achievements. This achievement has broken the monopoly of Danish Novozymes in the international monopoly and became a domestic enzyme. The banner of the formulation companies has helped our beer industry get rid of the dependence on imported products and laid the leading position of “α-acetolactate decarboxylase†in the field of biotechnology in China. Alpha-acetolactate decarboxylase is an important enzyme preparation in the beer manufacturing industry. It plays a significant role in shortening the beer fermentation cycle and improving beer yield and quality. The scientific and technological project was implemented by the Nanning Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology for many years. The Nang Bongke Biotechnology Co., Ltd. jointly affiliated with Guangxi University, Nanning Zhongnuo Bioengineering Co., Ltd. and other companies. In 2001, the project participated in the achievements of the 15th Anniversary of the National 863 Program as the only outstanding industrialization of the six South China provinces. In 2006, it also won the first prize of the Nanning City and Guangxi Science and Technology Progress Award. In 1997, "alpha-acetolactate decarboxylase" was listed in the National 863 Program. In 2000, it was listed in the National Torch Program. In 2005, the national standard for the development of ALDC (alpha-acetolactate decarboxylase) was developed and its technical level reached the international level. Advanced level, with independent intellectual property rights, won the national technological invention patent. At present, the project has formed an annual output of 60 tons, the cumulative production value of 72.96 million yuan, tax payment of 7.86 million yuan, becoming the largest domestic manufacturer of α-acetolactate decarboxylase, to fill the gaps in the country. The results have been widely used in more than 150 beer companies in China, improving the international competitiveness of China's beer industry and making great contributions to the development of China's national beer industry.
