Bisphenol S (BPS, CAS 80-09-1) consists of two hydroxyphenyl groups connected by a sulfonyl group and has the chemical formula C12H10O4S (Figure 1). BPS has a listed production volume between 1 000 and 10 000 tons per year according to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA 2014). It is used as monomer in synthetic polymers such as polyethersulfone (PES) and polysulfone (PSU) as well as in epoxy resins also used for food contact (Lotti et al 2013, Lotti et al 2011, Liaw 1998 and Gao and Li 2000).
PES has replaced bisphenol A (BPA) based polycarbonates in plastic baby bottles (Simoneau et al 2011). BPA based epoxy resins in cans have been substituted with BPS (Viñas et al 2010). Further, BPS is used in thermal papers (Liao et al 2012) and it has been detected in recycled food carton and food packaging paper (Liao et al 2012).

In May, the production and sales of automobiles continued to show a pullback trend compared with last month, but maintained a relatively fast growth year-on-year. Passenger car production and sales situation: In May, the production and sales of passenger cars of various types declined in different degrees compared with last month, among which the decline in production and sales of cross-type passenger cars and basic passenger cars (sedans) was obvious.
Commercial vehicle production and sales: In May, the decline in the overall production and sales of commercial vehicles was still significant. The production and sales of passenger cars were 16,500 and 16,200, which were higher than the average. The monthly decline was 11.34% and 12.86%, which was a year-on-year increase of 27.30% and 27.49%. The passenger vehicle non-integrated vehicles (passenger chassis) were sold and sold 7407 vehicles and 7,520 vehicles, a decrease of 29.92% and 23.01% from the previous month and an increase of 3.03% and 9.61% respectively; Production and sales of 105,500 vehicles and 110,100 vehicles were down by 17.90% and 14.78% from the previous month, an increase of 1.26% and 10.52% respectively.
Situation of key enterprises (groups): In May, the top ten automobile manufacturers in terms of sales volume were: FAW, SAIC, Dongfeng, Beiqi, Chang'an, Hafei, Chery, Guangzhou Automobile, Geely and Brilliance, which sold 95,400 vehicles and 9,500,000 respectively. There were 75,000 vehicles, 53,600 vehicles, 49,800 vehicles, 22,400 vehicles, 22,100 vehicles, 19,600 vehicles, 19,400 vehicles and 1,900 vehicles. The above-mentioned 10 companies sold a total of 477,300 vehicles in May, accounting for sales of automobiles. 83.05% of the total.
From January to May, the top 10 sales companies were: SAIC, FAW, Dongfeng, Chang'an, BAIC, Chery, Hafei, GAC, Geely and Jianghuai.
