A memorable moment came when BASF contacted A-L on Thanksgiving evening with an urgent issue that threatened to shut down an entire plant. Using their extensive inventory and technical knowledge, A-L provided a Q-size Viking pump that met the required pressure specifications by applying a lesser-known rule: reducing speed can double discharge pressure. Within 6–8 hours, the replacement was in place, avoiding a costly delay that would have taken 12 weeks with a competitor.
A-L Equipment has also customized Viking pumps for unique applications, such as modifying Glycol pumps with de-icing units for airport fueling during winter. This innovation led to collaborations with OEMs who use Viking pumps in glycol de-icing skids for major airlines like UPS and FedEx.
