One of the standout posts from last week's commercial fire in Evanston featured some remarkable apparatus shots captured by Steve Redick.

  • It's worth noting that, as far as the webmaster can recall, this was one of the few times in recent years—possibly even the first—that all five Evanston engines were actively pumping at the same fire.
  • Steve has shared what appears to be the first public image of the Glenview/Northfield Truck 14/29 in service, labeled clearly as Truck 29.
  • Wilmette and Winnetka fire departments also sent engines to the scene. According to Steve, these units were used as replacements for Evanston engines that needed refueling.
  • Interestingly, this incident saw a wide range of engine units involved: Engines 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, and 28. That’s almost a full sequence of numbered units, which is pretty rare to see in one call.
